UNESA Teaching Practitioner Program Strengthens Understanding of Fundamental Concepts in Early Childhood Education
The Teaching Practitioner program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) was implemented as part of the Fundamental Concepts of Early Childhood Education course in the Early Childhood Education Study Program. This program aims to bridge theoretical learning with real classroom practices by involving experienced practitioners from early childhood education institutions.
In this session, students had the opportunity to learn from Alfina Aminatul Sholikah, an Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher at TK Darul Ulum Surabaya. As an active practitioner, she shared her experiences in implementing child-centered learning that aligns with the developmental characteristics of young children.
During the session, Alfina emphasized the importance of understanding early childhood development as the foundation for effective teaching. She explained how learning activities should be designed through play-based approaches that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development in a holistic manner.
The Teaching Practitioner activity encouraged active interaction between students and the practitioner through discussions and reflections on real classroom situations. This enabled students to better understand the challenges and responsibilities of early childhood educators in applying theoretical concepts in practice.
Through this program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya demonstrates its commitment to delivering contextual and practice-based learning experiences. Collaboration with education practitioners is expected to enhance students’ professional readiness as future early childhood educators.
