Nutrition Education Campaign Held at Local PAUD
A local early childhood center in Yogyakarta has launched a nutrition education campaign aimed at promoting healthy eating habits among young children. The campaign was organized in collaboration with the local health department and parents’ association. It sought to address growing concerns about children’s preference for sugary snacks and fast food.
The event began with an interactive presentation where health officers explained the importance of balanced diets using colorful posters and storytelling. Teachers then led activities where children identified healthy and unhealthy foods through games and role-play. The goal was to teach children that nutritious meals help them grow strong and energetic.
Parents also took part by attending workshops on preparing simple, balanced lunch boxes. Nutritionists demonstrated creative ways to include vegetables and fruits in children’s meals without losing taste appeal. The session emphasized the importance of setting a good example at home by eating together and discussing food choices.
In addition, the campaign included a “Healthy Food Day” where students brought homemade lunches filled with vegetables, rice, and protein. Teachers rewarded those who tried new healthy foods with stickers and praise. This positive reinforcement made children more excited to eat nutritious meals.
The program concluded with a commitment to make nutrition education a regular part of the school curriculum. Through small, consistent efforts, teachers and parents hope to cultivate healthy habits that last a lifetime—starting from the PAUD classroom.
