MoECRT Strengthens Parenting Programs to Enhance PAUD–Family Collaboration in Shaping Children’s Character
The Ministry
of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MoECRT) has intensified
collaboration between early childhood education centers (PAUD) and families
through the launch of the Parent
Engagement Module for PAUD. This initiative is part of the Holistic-Integrative Early Childhood
Education (HI-PAUD) framework, which combines education, health, nutrition,
and child protection services. The program positions parents as key partners
for teachers in guiding children’s development. Through regular parenting
sessions, teachers not only educate children but also assist parents in
understanding age-appropriate parenting practices. Topics include positive
discipline, effective communication, and the importance of early stimulation at
home. Ms. Yeni Supriyanti, Secretary of the Directorate General of Early
Childhood Education, highlighted that strong cooperation between schools and
families is essential for character formation. “Early education does not end at
school. When parents and teachers work hand in hand, children experience
consistent values both at home and in class,” she stated. Many PAUD centers now
organize monthly parenting classes,
inviting parents to engage in discussions, collaborative play, and
home-learning planning. These sessions foster stronger relationships among
parents, teachers, and children, while also improving communication and shared
responsibility for learning outcomes. The holistic-integrative model also
involves other stakeholders such as community health centers (puskesmas), posyandu, and local organizations to
ensure children receive comprehensive support in nutrition, health, and
protection. Through this synergy among PAUD institutions, families, and
communities, MoECRT hopes to build Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045 children
who are intelligent, healthy, empathetic, and morally grounded.
