Second Day of the Volunteer Advocacy Program: Learning Numbers Through Educational Snakes
On the second day of the volunteer advocacy program, the learning activities continued through a play-based approach using an educational Snakes and Ladders game along with exercises in recognizing and writing numbers 1–10. Before the lesson began, the volunteers greeted the children and engaged them in light conversations to create a more enthusiastic and enjoyable learning atmosphere.
The learning session was carried out using the educational Snakes and Ladders game to prevent the children from feeling bored during the lesson. Throughout the game, the children were asked to identify numbers and follow simple instructions given by the volunteers. Through this interactive learning medium, the children became more active, confident, and enthusiastic while participating in activities with their peers.
After the game session, the volunteers continued with number-writing exercises for numbers 1–10. The children received direct guidance, especially those who still experienced difficulties writing numbers correctly. The volunteers also demonstrated the proper way to write each number slowly and clearly, making it easier for the children to follow and understand the lesson.
Throughout the activity, the volunteers consistently provided encouragement and simple praise to help build the children's confidence. The positive interaction between the volunteers and the children created a comfortable and enjoyable classroom environment. In addition to assisting with the learning process, the volunteers gained valuable experience in understanding each child's unique characteristics and learning how to interact with young children patiently and creatively.
Overall, the second day of the program was conducted successfully and smoothly. The children appeared more active, motivated, and began to show improvement in recognizing and writing numbers. The play-based learning approach also helped them understand the learning materials more effectively and enjoy the educational experience.
