Building Self-Awareness and Confidence Through Self-Introduction Activities at PIJAR Simokerto
The community service program was carried out by university students at the Pelita Insan Pembelajar (PIJAR) Foundation in Simokerto, Surabaya. During the first meeting, the learning topic focused on self-awareness and self-introduction. This activity aimed to help children understand their personal identity, recognize their strengths and potential, and develop self-confidence in interacting with others and their surrounding environment.
The session began with a group prayer, followed by an introduction activity to create a comfortable and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The university students encouraged the children to introduce themselves by sharing their names, ages, hobbies, and future aspirations. Through this activity, participants were given the opportunity to express themselves and become more familiar with their peers.
During the main session, the children completed various simple activities related to self-identity. They were asked to write information about themselves and draw things they liked. These activities were designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of their own characteristics and to appreciate the uniqueness of each individual.
Throughout the program, the children demonstrated great enthusiasm and actively participated in every activity. They appeared more confident when speaking in front of their friends and were able to express their thoughts and opinions more openly. The session concluded with a reflection activity, a group photo session, and the presentation of appreciation awards to participants for their active involvement and positive participation throughout the program.
Overall, the first meeting successfully created a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging children to develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and social interaction skills.
