UNESA Teaching Practitioner Program Promotes Creative Learning through Early Childhood Dance Education
The Teaching Practitioner program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) was implemented within the Early Childhood Education Study Program to enrich students’ practical understanding of creative learning. This session focused on Early Childhood Dance Education, which supports children’s physical, emotional, and creative development.
The program featured Izza Ikromatus S., an Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher at TK Islam Al-Karomah Wiyung, as the invited teaching practitioner. She shared her professional experience in designing and implementing dance activities that are enjoyable, inclusive, and suitable for young learners.
During the session, Izza Ikromatus S. explained that dance education helps children develop body coordination, self-expression, confidence, and creativity. She emphasized the importance of using simple movements, child-friendly music, and playful learning strategies to ensure active participation.
Students engaged in interactive discussions and reflections on how dance activities can be integrated into daily learning in early childhood classrooms. This provided them with practical insights into managing creative learning activities while considering children’s diverse abilities.
Through this Teaching Practitioner program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya continues to strengthen collaboration with education practitioners to provide experiential learning opportunities and prepare students to become innovative and professional early childhood educators.
