UNESA Teaching Practitioner Program Enhances Competence in Evaluation of Early Childhood Learning
The Teaching Practitioner program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) was conducted as part of the Evaluation of Learning and Teaching in Early Childhood Education course. This activity aims to strengthen students’ understanding of assessment practices that are appropriate for early childhood education settings.
The session featured Lailatun Nazar, an Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 26 Morowudi, as the invited teaching practitioner. She shared practical insights into planning and implementing evaluation strategies that focus on children’s learning processes and developmental progress.
In her presentation, Lailatun Nazar highlighted that evaluation in early childhood education should be continuous, authentic, and developmentally appropriate. She explained various assessment techniques, including observation, anecdotal records, and portfolio-based assessment, which are commonly used to monitor children’s growth.
Students actively participated in discussions and group activities that explored real assessment challenges faced by teachers in early childhood classrooms. This interactive approach helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field.
Through the Teaching Practitioner program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya reinforces its commitment to preparing competent and reflective early childhood educators who are capable of conducting meaningful and ethical learning assessments.
