Teaching Practitioner: Teaching Skills and Microteaching
Early Childhood Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) conducted a Teaching Practitioner activity as part of the course Teaching Skills and Microteaching. This activity aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of basic teaching skills and their application in early childhood education settings.
The Teaching Practitioner session featured Legi Setyoningsih, an Early Childhood Education teacher at TK AT Taqwa 1 Wiyung Surabaya, as the guest speaker. During the session, the practitioner shared practical experiences related to classroom teaching skills, lesson delivery, classroom interaction, and effective communication with young children.
Through this activity, students gained valuable insights into the implementation of microteaching in early childhood education, including strategies for opening and closing lessons, managing classrooms, engaging children in learning activities, and reflecting on teaching performance. The session also helped students connect theoretical concepts learned in lectures with real teaching practices.
The Teaching Practitioner activity is expected to enhance students’ professional competencies and prepare them to become confident, reflective, and skillful early childhood educators.
