Teaching Practitioner: Microteaching Skills
Early Childhood Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) conducted a Teaching Practitioner activity as part of the Microteaching Skills course. This activity aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of basic teaching skills through direct exposure to professional teaching practices in early childhood education.
The Teaching Practitioner session featured Titien Ruswanti, M.Pd, an Early Childhood Education teacher at TK Islam Terpadu Nada Surabaya, as the guest speaker. The practitioner shared her experiences in applying effective teaching skills in early childhood classrooms.
During the session, students learned about essential microteaching skills, including lesson opening and closing, classroom communication, questioning techniques, classroom management, and interaction with young children. The speaker emphasized the importance of confidence, clarity, and reflective practice in teaching.
Through this activity, students were able to connect theoretical concepts of microteaching with real teaching practices. The interactive discussion encouraged students to reflect on their own teaching performance and professional development.
The Teaching Practitioner activity is expected to enhance students’ teaching competencies and prepare them to become confident and skillful early childhood educators.
