Teaching Practitioner: Evaluation and Learning in Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) organized a Teaching Practitioner activity as part of the Evaluation and Learning in Early Childhood Education course. This activity aimed to provide students with practical insights into assessment and evaluation practices in early childhood education.
The session featured Mawaddah, M.Pd, an Early Childhood Education teacher at TK Khadijah Surabaya, as the guest speaker. The practitioner shared experiences related to evaluating children’s learning and development in early childhood settings.
During the activity, students learned about various evaluation techniques, including observation, documentation, and assessment of children’s developmental progress. The speaker highlighted the importance of continuous and developmentally appropriate evaluation to support effective learning.
Through this Teaching Practitioner activity, students gained a deeper understanding of the role of evaluation in improving teaching quality and learning outcomes. The session helped students bridge theoretical knowledge with authentic classroom practices.
The activity is expected to strengthen students’ competencies in implementing meaningful and child-centered evaluation in early childhood education.
