The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) organized a Teaching Practitioner activity as part of the Development of Teaching Materials course. This activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of designing and using teaching materials in early childhood education.
The session featured Erna Wahyu Utami, S.Pd, an Early Childhood Education teacher at TK Labschool UNESA 1 Surabaya, as the guest speaker. The practitioner shared practical experiences in developing creative and developmentally appropriate teaching materials.
During the activity, students learned about the process of selecting, designing, and utilizing teaching materials that support play-based and meaningful learning. The speaker emphasized the importance of aligning teaching materials with learning objectives and children’s developmental stages.
Through this Teaching Practitioner activity, students gained valuable insights into applying theoretical concepts of material development into real classroom practices. The session encouraged students to be creative and innovative in designing learning resources.
The activity is expected to strengthen students’ skills in developing effective teaching materials and prepare them to become professional early childhood educators.
