Teaching Practitioner: Basic Concepts of Early Childhood Education
Early Childhood Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Study Program of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) conducted a Teaching Practitioner activity as part of the Basic Concepts of Early Childhood Education course. The activity aimed to deepen students’ understanding of fundamental principles in early childhood education.
The Teaching Practitioner session featured Ari Nur Dwiyanti, S.Pd, an Early Childhood Education teacher at TK Labschool UNESA 1 Surabaya, as the guest speaker. The speaker shared experiences related to the implementation of basic concepts and principles of early childhood education in daily teaching practices.
During the session, students gained insights into child development, learning characteristics of young children, and the importance of play-based and child-centered learning. The practitioner also emphasized the role of teachers in facilitating meaningful learning experiences that support holistic child development.
Through this activity, students were able to reflect on how foundational theories of early childhood education are applied in real classroom settings. The discussion helped bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application.
The Teaching Practitioner activity is expected to strengthen students’ foundational knowledge and prepare them to become competent and professional early childhood educators.
