PAUD Students Celebrate Independence Day with Traditional Games
The spirit of Indonesia’s Independence Day was brought to life in a colorful celebration at a local PAUD in Malang. Dressed in red and white attire, children participated in various traditional games that reflected the nation’s rich cultural heritage. The event aimed to instill a sense of patriotism and unity among young learners while introducing them to Indonesia’s traditions in a joyful way.
Teachers organized classic games such as sack races, marble-on-spoon contests, and flag coloring activities. Each game was designed to promote teamwork, coordination, and sportsmanship. Laughter filled the playground as children cheered for their friends and learned the importance of fair play. Teachers took the opportunity to explain the meaning of independence and how heroes fought for freedom long ago.
Parents also played an important role in the celebration. Many volunteered as organizers and supporters, helping children with their costumes or cheering them during games. Their participation created a warm, family-like atmosphere that made the event even more memorable.
Between the games, children sang patriotic songs and listened to stories about national heroes. These activities helped them connect emotionally with the country’s history and values. Teachers reminded them that being independent means not only freedom but also responsibility and respect for others.
The event concluded with a flag ceremony and a symbolic release of balloons into the sky. Parents and teachers were proud to see the enthusiasm and energy of the young participants. Through fun and play, these children learned what it means to love and honor their country—values that will stay with them as they grow.
