Strengthening Early Childhood Education Practice Through the "Practitioner-as-Teacher" Initiative
The "Practitioner-as-Teacher" (Praktisi Mengajar) program at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) continues to support the integration of academic learning and professional practice within the Early Childhood Education (ECE) study program. This particular session focused on the methodology and implementation of microteaching. The session featured Dewi Rahmawati, who served as the practitioner-instructor for microteaching. During the session, Dewi Rahmawati emphasized the importance of effective, high-quality microteaching in fostering a conducive learning environment for young children. She provided insights into the best practices for conducting microteaching. The program was delivered through interactive discussions and the sharing of real-world experiences. Students were encouraged to ask questions and reflect on the concrete challenges encountered when managing microteaching sessions.
Through this "Practitioner-as-Teacher" initiative, the State University of Surabaya reaffirms its commitment to providing future educators with practical, industry-relevant competencies alongside solid theoretical foundations. By bridging the gap between higher education and practical classroom teaching, UNESA aims to empower ECE students to confidently handle real-world early childhood teaching environments. Ultimately, this collaboration not only enhances the quality of student teacher training but also contributes to raising overall standard and practice in early childhood education across Indonesia.
