Early Childhood Character Education Through Heroic Stories During Heroes Month
In celebration of Heroes Month, various early childhood education institutions (PAUD) across Indonesia are conducting character education activities through exemplary stories. Teachers introduce inspiring tales of national heroes such as Cut Nyak Dien, Ki Hajar Dewantara, and Mohammad Hatta in engaging and age-appropriate ways. Through storytelling, role-playing, and drawing hero figures, children are encouraged to understand the values of courage, responsibility, and the spirit of perseverance embodied by the nation’s heroes.
This activity also serves as an effective way to instill moral values from an early age. Children learn that being a hero does not always mean fighting in a war, but can also be shown through simple actions such as helping friends, keeping the environment clean, and sharing with others. With a fun and contextual approach, character education during Heroes Month helps shape a young generation that is patriotic, caring, and morally upright from early childhood.
