Final Volunteer Teaching Session at Alma Karya Foundation: Learning Evaluation and Reflection Activities
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the third volunteer teaching session was conducted at the Alma Karya Foundation. This meeting served as the final session in a series of educational and mentoring programs for children at the foundation. Therefore, the activities were designed not only as learning experiences but also as an opportunity to evaluate and reflect on the knowledge and experiences gained by the participants throughout the three meetings.
The program began with an opening game aimed at increasing the children’s enthusiasm, concentration, and participation. The game was conducted in groups, allowing the participants to interact and collaborate with their peers. The lively and enjoyable atmosphere created through this activity helped prepare the children for the learning sessions that followed.
After the opening game, the participants were divided into groups and joined in a collective prayer before beginning the learning activities. The program then continued with an interactive warm-up session involving simple body movements. This activity was designed to improve coordination, balance, and gross motor skills while helping the children focus and prepare themselves for the lessons ahead.
For the kindergarten group, the main activity was coloring. The children were encouraged to express their creativity by choosing their own color combinations and decorating the provided pictures according to their imagination. Through this activity, the participants were able to develop creativity, imagination, color recognition skills, and self-confidence in expressing their ideas.
Meanwhile, for the elementary school group, the learning activities focused on English and Mathematics. During the English lesson, the participants were introduced to the names of various everyday objects commonly found around them. The material was delivered through interactive methods such as question-and-answer sessions and group vocabulary pronunciation exercises. This activity aimed to improve the children’s basic English skills and expand their vocabulary in an enjoyable and engaging manner.
In the Mathematics session, the participants completed practice exercises designed to assess their understanding of the concepts that had been taught during previous meetings. The university student facilitators provided guidance and additional explanations whenever participants encountered difficulties or needed further clarification. This approach helped ensure that each child could better understand the mathematical concepts being reviewed.
As this was the final meeting, the program continued with a comprehensive review and evaluation of all the materials learned from Day 1 through Day 3. The facilitators asked basic questions related to English, Mathematics, and character-building values that had been introduced throughout the program. The evaluation process was conducted in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, allowing the participants to answer confidently and comfortably.
During the reflection session, the children were given the opportunity to share their experiences, impressions, and messages regarding the learning activities. Most participants expressed their happiness about being able to learn while playing and taking part in a variety of engaging activities. Their responses demonstrated that the learning methods implemented throughout the program successfully created meaningful and positive educational experiences.
The third day also marked the conclusion of the entire educational and mentoring program at the Alma Karya Foundation. The event was closed with a joint prayer as an expression of gratitude for the successful implementation of all activities. Finally, a documentation session was held, where university students and participants took group photographs together as a lasting memory and as evidence of the successful completion of the three-session program.
Through this program, it is hoped that the children not only strengthened their academic abilities in English and Mathematics but also developed greater confidence, social skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. The positive experiences gained throughout the three meetings are expected to contribute to their future growth and development.
