I, Ainur Rahmadhan Syawalia (Student ID: 25010684092), acting as the representative of Batch 2 Group 43, hereby present a comprehensive report and documentation of the community service program that was successfully conducted on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Novaloka Institute, located at Jalan Pakis Gunung I No. 133, Pakis Village, Sawahan District, Surabaya City. The learning environment was peaceful, clean, and free from excessive noise, creating a comfortable and conducive atmosphere for both the participants and facilitators. The pleasant surroundings and fresh air further supported an enjoyable and effective learning experience.
The primary objective of this activity was to apply and share the knowledge acquired through higher education with the community, particularly in the fields of basic education and child development. In addition, the program aimed to improve children’s language skills, memory, confidence in expressing opinions, creativity, and imagination through various engaging and enjoyable learning methods. The activity also provided valuable opportunities for the facilitators to develop their teaching, classroom management, and communication skills while building positive relationships with the children.
The program began with an opening session consisting of a joint prayer, self-introductions, and an ice-breaking activity. The prayer was led by one of the group members as an expression of gratitude and hope for a successful and beneficial program. Afterward, each facilitator introduced themselves and encouraged the children to do the same. This activity helped establish familiarity, confidence, and a warm learning atmosphere. The session continued with educational songs accompanied by simple body movements, which successfully reduced shyness and encouraged active participation. As a result, the children became more enthusiastic, cheerful, and ready to engage in the learning activities.
The first core activity was a picture-guessing game combined with number recognition. The facilitators prepared picture cards featuring familiar objects, animals, fruits, and everyday items. Each picture was paired with a number card displayed in front of it. The children were asked to identify the picture and mention the number shown. For example, when presented with a picture of an apple accompanied by the number five, the children responded, “Apple, number five.” This activity helped develop observation skills, memory, vocabulary, and number recognition while encouraging children to speak confidently in front of others.
The second activity focused on completing missing two-syllable words through an interactive jumping game. Large colored cards containing syllables were arranged on the floor, with certain syllables intentionally omitted. The children were required to jump from one card to another and identify the missing syllable needed to complete the word correctly. This activity effectively combined physical movement with cognitive development, encouraging children to improve their reading skills, vocabulary recognition, and problem-solving abilities while having fun.
Following the active learning games, the children participated in a shared storytelling session. A facilitator read an engaging story containing moral values such as kindness, friendship, honesty, and helpfulness. The story was delivered expressively, using different tones and voices to capture the children's attention and imagination. Throughout the session, the facilitators asked simple questions about the story to maintain engagement and encourage critical thinking. The children listened attentively, shared their opinions, and reflected on the lessons that could be applied in their daily lives. This activity not only enhanced listening and language comprehension skills but also supported character development.
The final core activity was a collaborative drawing session on a large styrofoam board created as a keepsake. The children were provided with colorful markers and encouraged to draw anything they liked, remembered, or enjoyed from the day’s activities. Some drew landscapes, houses, flowers, and the sun, while others illustrated themselves together with the facilitators. This creative activity provided an opportunity for self-expression, imagination, and artistic exploration. The completed artwork served as a meaningful reminder of the memorable experiences shared throughout the program and was intended to be displayed at Novaloka Institute as a lasting symbol of the children's creativity and participation.
As the program came to an end, all participants gathered for the closing session. The facilitators expressed their gratitude for the children's enthusiasm, cooperation, and active participation. They also encouraged the children to continue studying diligently, develop their talents, and maintain positive attitudes toward others.
The activity concluded with a closing prayer, followed by a group photo session to document the memorable moments shared by the participants and facilitators. The cheerful smiles and joyful expressions captured in the photographs reflected the success of the program and the positive impact it had on everyone involved.
