Building Literacy, Grammar, and Creativity Through Interactive Learning at Sanggar Merah Merdeka Tales
In the first week of the community education program, held on April 14, 2026, the team of university student facilitators successfully conducted a series of educational learning activities at Sanggar Merah Merdeka Tales. Carrying the theme “Developing Literacy, Grammar, and Artistic Creativity,” the program aimed to strengthen children's fundamental educational skills through engaging yet structured learning approaches. By combining interactive instruction, hands-on practice, student worksheets (LKPD), and creative art activities, the facilitators sought to foster children's communication skills, confidence, and literacy development from an early age.
To ensure effective learning support, participants were divided into several specialized classes. In Dahlia Class, Annisa Nafrotuz Zuhri and Syailla Candrine Putrie Thalita guided students in understanding sentence structures and constructing sentences using the Simple Present Tense. Meanwhile, in Melati Class, Andiena Rahmawati Zhar and Oktaviani Eka Islamiah Putri focused on developing students’ self-introduction skills to build confidence in public speaking.
For younger learners, Syailla managed Akar A Class, where students were introduced to the English alphabet, while Annisa taught Akar B Class, focusing on the proper use of capital letters. In Tunas Class, Andiena provided instruction on punctuation marks, and Oktaviani encouraged creativity in Akar Class through a rainbow-coloring activity.
The evaluation results showed encouraging progress. Most children in the Akar classes were able to recite the alphabet from A to Z in sequence, although recognizing letters in random order still required further practice and guidance. The success of the program was reflected in the students’ enthusiasm in completing assignments and their growing confidence when presenting in front of the class.
The productive learning session concluded with a reflection activity, appreciation for the students’ efforts and achievements, and a closing prayer. This marked the beginning of an inspiring educational journey aimed at empowering children through meaningful learning experiences at Sanggar Merah Merdeka Tales.
