Building Confidence and Communication Skills Through Interactive Learning Activities at Karya Kasih Putra
A cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere marked the third community service meeting conducted by university students together with the children at Karya Kasih Putra Unit on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The activity aimed to enhance children's language skills, build self-confidence, and strengthen emotional connections through a variety of educational and enjoyable activities.
The event began with an opening session and a group prayer as an expression of gratitude and hope that all activities would run smoothly and provide meaningful benefits for everyone involved. This was followed by an ice-breaking session consisting of simple movements and concentration games designed to create a more friendly atmosphere and help the children focus before participating in the main activities.
During the ice-breaking session, the children enthusiastically followed the instructions given by the university student facilitators. Their laughter and excitement created a lively and enjoyable learning environment. The main activity then continued with a dream-sharing exercise, where the children were invited to write their future aspirations on a large tree illustration that had been prepared on the classroom board.
After writing down their dreams, the children were given the opportunity to come to the front of the class and explain why they had chosen those particular aspirations. Several children confidently shared their ambitions of becoming teachers, doctors, police officers, and entrepreneurs. This activity was designed to develop speaking skills, encourage public speaking, and foster self-confidence from an early age.
The atmosphere became even more exciting when the university students invited the children to play the popular group game “Donald Duck.” The game was warmly welcomed by the children because it created a fun environment while also helping to improve concentration and teamwork skills.
In addition, the students organized a memorable keepsake activity in which the children placed their fingerprints and wrote their names on a canvas that had been prepared beforehand. This activity served as a symbol of togetherness and a meaningful reminder of the time shared between the university students and the children throughout the program. Once completed, the canvas was symbolically presented to the unit management as a token of appreciation and remembrance of the community service activities.
To conclude the event, all participants and university students gathered for a group photo session to capture the special moments they had shared together. The activity ended with a closing prayer, farewell greetings, and the distribution of snacks as rewards for the children's enthusiasm and active participation throughout the program.
Throughout the activity, the children displayed great happiness, excitement, and enthusiasm. Positive feedback was received from both the children and the unit management, who considered the program successful in providing enjoyable learning experiences while strengthening emotional connections. Through this activity, the university students also gained valuable experience in creating a creative, interactive, and meaningful learning environment that supports children's social development and self-confidence.
